The bathroom is one of the rooms in the house that we all use everyday. This is why we have to be able to do some bathroom repairs on our own without calling a plumber. Simple bathroom faucet repairs and replacement are easy to do. There is really no need to pay extra just for fixing this minor household task.
What the bathtub faucet does....
The concept of a faucet is to control the flow of water from the pipe. If the faucet is open, water can get out from the source through the pipe. When the faucet is closed, the water stays in the pipe. Hundreds upon gallons of water can be saved every year if faucets are not faulty.
The Deteriorated Washer...
The most common cause of a leaking faucet is deteriorated washer.
These washers, or seats are usually the culprits.
To replace the washer....
- Turn off the water either at the faucet, or the main water into the home.
- Remove the bathtub faucet handle by first removing the decorative flat piece, then using a screw driver, remove the handle.
- Once the faucet assembly is exposed, take it apart, remove the washer, and replace it.
- Re-assemble the faucet assembly
Another reason that may cause you to delve into a bathtub faucet repair id if there is leak is because of loose nut or loose thread. If this is the case, you will have to replace the entire faucet just to make sure that the leak won’t be any more of a problem.
