Bathtub tile over painted green board

BATH TUB WAS ALREADY INSTALLED, GREEN BOARD WAS PUT UP AROUND THE TUB. THE WALLS WERE PRIMED AND PAINTED.
CAN I INSTALL TILE ON THE PAINTED GREEN BOARD OR DO I NEED TO CUT IT OUT AND PUT UP SOMETHING ELSE?

Yes, you can tile over the painted surface. If the paint is a high gloss paint, you may want to rough-up the paint with sandpaper so that the thinset will adhere properly....
