How do I remodel a bathroom after everthing is out?

by Lise

We finished taking out EVERYTHING from our upstairs bathroom. The tub wall was wet in a section over 3 ft high so we took out all of the drywall around the tub. The plywood that was under the sub-floor was wet under the toilet and a little damaged around the flange. Yes we had a musty mold smell for a while.

We had someone look at the now empty bathroom and review the floor to give us a price for the labor to fix and install a new bathroom, but had to change our plans do to an unforeseen financial change.

NOW WE HAVE TO DO IT. WHERE DO WE START?

I think we should level the floor area where the toilet was and put in a shut off valve for the tub/shower(the other side of the wall is a closet) and then I think we start with a bathtub but I'm not sure. Any advice?

Thank you for submitting a question to our Bathroom Remodel How-To page...

You are right in your approach I think - Get the floor leveled, and add the bathtub - then you can start on the floor.... then re-install the toilet.

Sounds like you have a fun and exciting bathroom remodel project ahead. We would love to see photos after you are finished.... please post some here - Bathroom Remodel Photos.
