How do I remove an acrylic shower surround?

by Bruce
(Illinois)

We are attempting to remove an old 3 piece cracked shower surround and replace with a new five piece one. Where do we begin?

DIYBathroomRemodel: Thank you for submitting a Bathroom Shower How To question...

The best way to remove the old acrylic shower enclosure after removing all of the bath fixtures, is to cut the drywall from around the shower enclosure - taking all of the shower enclosure out with the drywall.

Before you start cutting though, be sure to measure the size of the new enclosure - go ahead and cut the drywall to the correct size to rough in the new enclosure.

Good Luck on the bathroom remodel!
