How to install a shower in an old non-shower house

How do I install a shower and components in an older house than did not have one already installed. My house is about 60 years old. It was my parents home.

I would like to add a shower in the bathroom. There is a window over the tub and would like to know if that will affect the installation. The walls are Sheetrock so I also know a tile of some type will be needed.

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for submitting a Bathroom Shower How To question...

You can buy a shower addition kit like the one pictured at left, which is a simple way to add a shower without having to add additional plumbing.

You might also look into placing two shower curtains to keep form having to tile right away.

Good luck on your bathroom remodel....
