How to paint over bathroom paneling?

I am renting an apartment with an old bathroom and it is not an option to remove or replace the paneling or the tub.

The paneling is white with flowers every so often, and in one spot someone has written on the wall in permanent marker.

Can you paint over the paneling? Ideas for the tub? Any other ideas to help refresh this old bathroom?

You can paint over this type of shower wall board...

To begin - clean it thoroughly using denatured alcohol to remove any soap scum and dirt..... allow everything to dry completely before painting.... you may want to wait a couple of days.

Use a water based 2 part (resin and hardener) epoxy paint.... you will be able to purchase this at any hardware store or home improvement warehouse.

Allow everything to dry completely after painting....
