Did they ever use tar paper as the water proofing when building old concrete shower pans? Just wondering if this was a DIY job done wrong or just the way they used to do it at one time before using rubber.

Thank you for submitting a Bathroom Shower How To question...
Actually, in s shower stall or shower pan install, many people still use tar paper as one form of a moisture barrier... usually the barrier that is directly next to the sub-flooring.
Tar paper is a fairly good option because of it pliability and moisture barrier qualities.... although, it would not be the only moisture barrier used.
