If you are talking about taking up tiles, and replacing them, you can remove the tiles by breaking up the tile with a hammer, and then scraping the tile from the floor.
Use a hand-scraper to remove the tile and floor adhesive from the floor. You can then level out the floor with a floor-leveling compound.
You are then ready to lay your new tile....
