Replace a toilet with a sink?

In the basement, I do not need a toilet - I do need a sink... Can I make the drain for the toilet work for a sink?

DIYBathroomRemodel: It is possible to tap into the toilet drain, and adapt it for a regular sink or shower drainage.

You will need to be able to remove some of the flooring to get to the plumbing under the toilet... remove the closet bend, and the flange.

Then reduce the pipe to a 2 inch opening. you should then add a 2 inch trap and a raiser to bring the plumbing high enough to pick up the sink drainage.

So, there is some work required to get it done, but it can be done.

Good luck on your bathroom remodel!
