Replace bathroom floor tiles

I moved into a remodeled house and the floor tiles are all cracking in the bathroom. How do I replace the tiles and ensure that those will not just crack again. The tiles cracked almost immediately when we moved in.

Thank you for submitting a Bathroom Tile How To question...

To keep bathroom floor tiles from cracking, you need to remove as much flexibility from the bathroom floor as possible.

Tile on a bathroom floor should probably be placed over a plywood base that is more than the standard 3/4 inch plywood. Look into a sub-floor of 5/8 inch plywood.

Also, be sure to caulk and seal the floor.... if you can prevent cracks in the grout, then you will help the floor keep form cracking.

Also, keep in mind that you can pre-stress the bathroom floor by placing cinder blocks on top of towels in the bathtub when laying the tile....
