Bathtub Grout Lines

Bathtub Grout Lines

We are replacing the tile floor in our bathroom, tub and surround in good shape. The old tile was in cement, and so the floor will now be lower by about 1 ½ inches. The tub has grout lines around it which will now show. There will be molding tile on the walls that matches the floor; can that be used also on the tub? I think it would look kinda cool, our tile guy is not sure this can be done.

Jeff - Thank you for submitting a question to our Bathroom Remodel How-To page...

I hope that the photo that I have attached above show some of the damage that you are describing... the photo above was taken of a bathtub in our remodel project.

I have tested the goo-gone approach to removing the remaining grout, and it does work... it just takes a lot of elbow grease!

I really do not know about placing the tile around the edge of the tub.... I do not think that it will look right at the top of the tile... it will be fairly uneven as well....

But, you are the home owner, and it is your house... so you should get to make the decision!

Good Luck on your bathroom remodel!

just put a border over the area such as quarter inch round or in your case something larger. then paint it the color of the bathtub or floor
