The ring around the tub drain is cracked and slanted, causing the fiberglass tub to crack as well.
I need to know how to fix both. A plumber looked at it and said he couldn't fix it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
A few tips...
Thank you for submitting a question on our bathroom remodel how to page.
Depending on the extent of the slanting of the drain flange and the amount of cracking of the fiberglass, a repair may be able to be completed.
For the drain repair, you'll need a tub drain wrench, plumber's putty, and a new drain. You will use the drain wrench to remove the drain flange.... Place the wrench into the hole, and using a counterclockwise motion, unscrew the drain flange and pull it up and out.... hopefully it will come out for you.
When the drain is removed, you can then determine whether the fiberglass can be repaired. You can purchase a fiberglass repair kit at a hardware store to repair it.....
Good Luck!
