Updating a bathroom mirror and medicine cabinet

Our home was built in the late 70's so our main bathroom is in need of updating. We have a large mirror over the sink and vanity. Under the mirror is a long rectangular medicine cabinet (the chrome ones that have a mirror front and the doors slide back and forth). I am looking for ideas to modernize the mirror and cabinet without replacing them.
